Position Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Male Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a School Bus Nurse. This position focuses on providing specialized care to a student requiring medical oversight during transportation to and from school. Ideal for an LPN with pediatric or special needs experience, this role ensures the student’s safety and well-being during transit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct medical support during school bus transportation.
- Assist with mobility needs, including managing wheelchairs and other medical devices.
- Administer medications and provide medical interventions as needed.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies while ensuring the child’s safety.
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor and a secure environment on the bus.
- Document care and report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate parties.
Qualifications:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in DC.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with pediatric or special needs patients preferred.
- Knowledge of medical equipment such as ventilators, G-tubes, and tracheostomies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel.
- Dependable, attentive, and able to handle medical emergencies with composure.
